Dutchess has had a rough journey. She started life as a feral kitten, was trapped and spayed, and then found kindness through a person who helped her learn to trust humans. After that person passed, Dutchess bounced between homes, each time managing to settle in before loss found her again. Recently, she lost another human companion and ended up scared and alone at a city shelter. Dental pain added to her stress, but with surgery and care, Dutchess is recovering — now her tongue sometimes peeks out in an endearing way. At nine and a half, she's searching for stability at last. Dutchess gets along with other cats and is fully litter trained. She spends weekends at the Sayreville adoption center, waiting quietly for a new person she can count on.
