About Boots

Built Like a Farm Dog, Loves Like a Hallmark Movie Boots looks like she should be riding around in the passenger seat of an old farm truck giving life advice nobody asked for but somehow desperately needed. At around a year and a half old and 36 lbs, Boots appears to be some kind of Retriever mix … honestly she looks like one of those naturally perfect little farm dogs that grew up supervising bonfires and emotionally supporting entire households. She’s athletic, affectionate, emotionally available, and just a little bit goofy in a way that makes people get attached way too fast. This is a dog with MAIN CHARACTER ENERGY in the most wholesome way possible. No dramatic speeches. No chaos. No tiny criminal activity at 2 am. Boots wakes up every day and simply chooses peace. She’s the kind of dog that walks into a home and immediately acts like she’s been paying utilities there for years. Boots LOVES other dogs and has the easiest social skills imaginable. Not fake corporate networking social either. Real small-town diner waitress social. She gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes, lives peacefully with cats, and has this sweet submissive nature where she somehow makes every animal around her feel comfortable within like seven minutes. And when she gets excited? Buddy, this dog folds herself directly onto the floor and rolls over belly-up like a possum that just got complimented too hard. She previously lived with a child with Down syndrome and was described as incredibly tolerant and gentle, which tells you a whole lot about the kind of heart this dog has. Boots carries herself with this calm, easygoing sweetness that makes her feel safe to be around almost immediately. Even when she’s cautious in a new environment, she adjusts quickly and settles in beautifully. And can we discuss the facial expressions on this dog for a second? Boots has permanent “concerned substitute teacher” eyes. She looks like she’s about to quietly pull you aside after class and ask if things are okay at home. Half the time she stares at people like she can sense emotional tension from across the property. This girl is fully potty trained, kennel trained, walks nicely on leash, responds beautifully to guidance, and loads up in the truck without turning it into a hostage negotiation. She’s smart, eager to please, and naturally balanced in a way that feels incredibly refreshing. Her energy level is right in that magical middle ground too. Boots enjoys walks, playtime, adventures, and hanging out with her people, but she also knows how to settle and simply exist peacefully in a home. She’s not trying to become your full-time occupation. She’s trying to become your sidekick. The kind that follows you into the kitchen. The kind that waits outside the bathroom door like security personnel. The kind that quietly lays her head on your leg while you’re watching TV and suddenly makes the entire house feel warmer. Boots is one of those dogs people spend years hoping to find. Steady. Gentle. Funny. Social. Adaptable. Deeply loving without being overwhelming. Just a really, really good dog. +++++++ ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://form.jotform.com/260401018308040 +++++++ Boots is currently being fostered in Texas and will be transported to the perfect forever home by our rescue! We have transports departing each week! +++++++ The Truth About Rescue: Every rescue pup is a work in progress — and that’s the beauty of it. None of them come wrapped in a bow, ready-made or mistake-free. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again. Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves. And somewhere along the way, you’ll realize they were never the only one being rescued. +++++++ Once we have received your application, we will review and reach out to set-up an interview with one of our volunteers! If you have additional questions, please email us at SaintMuttsInquiries@gmail.com. Note: As with all of our rescues, we recommend homes with children 10 years and over to ensure the best fit for both the pets and families involved.
