About Spud

**Spud** Spud is a 3-year-old sweetheart whose world has recently been turned upside down after losing his dad. Everything he knew changed, and he is understandably a little confused right now, but through it all, he has remained the sweetest boy. Spud is smart, gentle, and looking for a soft place to land while he starts over. He is the kind of dog who just needs someone to give him patience, kindness, and the chance to feel safe and loved again. He is current on all of his vetting and ready to find a new family to call his own. Spud has already lost so much, and now he deserves a fresh start with someone who will love him through the next chapter of his life. Apply here: www.msanimalproject.org/adoption This pet is currently located in Mississippi in one of our foster homes. We provide transport to the Northeast, which is included in the adoption fee. We have multiple transport stops in PA, CT, RI, NY and NH. Once your application has been processed and approved, we will complete a phone interview and schedule the next available transport date. All pets in our care are fully vetted by our veterinary team and checked for contagious diseases prior to travel. We vaccinate, deworm, spay/neuter, microchip, and provide monthly heartworm and flea prevention for every dog in our program. Please note that many of our dogs are strays, so breed mixes and parentage are often unknown or simply our best guess. We cannot guarantee adult size, temperament, or that any dog will be hypoallergenic. Once the pet leaves on transport, the adopter assumes full responsibility for all future care and expenses. While we do everything possible to ensure our dogs are healthy before adoption, puppies especially can later develop illnesses such as giardia, coccidia, or parvo, and adult dogs may test negative for heartworms initially and later test positive. All puppies will receive a minimum of three vaccines prior to travel, though many will be fully vaccinated with four rounds before adoption. We strongly encourage all adopters to obtain pet insurance for their new family member. If for any reason the adoption does not work out at any time during the pet’s life, the adopter is responsible for arranging and covering transportation costs to return the pet to us or one of our approved rescue partners so the dog can safely return to our care.
