About Smooch

Meet Smooch - the dog who survived the unimaginable and still chose love anyway. Smooch was one of four dogs dumped down rural dirt roads with nothing but a to-go box and a bowl of water. He was the last to be caught after spending several days wandering and befriending a family's French bulldog. When we finally brought him to safety, he was emaciated, covered in fleas, ticks, urine, and feces, with his white fur stained yellow from neglect. He was so hungry he was still passing pieces of plastic bags days later from scavenging to survive. And yet... from the moment we picked him up, all Smooch wanted to do was give kisses. That's how he earned his name. Smooch came to us with absolutely no training or manners. He didn't know how to walk on a leash, sit, wait at doors, or keep all four paws on the ground. In true young-dog fashion, he tested every boundary - jumping on counters, doors, chairs, and tables. But underneath the chaos was something special: a dog desperate to learn and eager to please. In just a short time, Smooch has made incredible progress. He now walks well on a leash, sits and waits politely for food and doorways, loves car rides, enjoys hiking and creek adventures, and has discovered the joy of playing ball. He's still young, stubborn, and occasionally sneaky if food is involved - but consistency and structure have helped him thrive. Smooch is the kind of dog who will make you laugh daily. He is goofy, affectionate, adventurous, and full of life. Most of all, he is proof of how resilient dogs can be, even after humans have failed them. Smooch would do best in a home with no cats or other small animals and children over 8yrs old. Whoever adopts Smooch is getting a dog with a huge heart and a second chance at the life he always deserved. We are going to miss this sweet boy terribly, but we cannot wait to see him become someone's best friend.
