Location: Columbus, OH Medication: NexGard Plus Trinity is a precious, little, female French Bulldog. Born 7.18.23, she's almost 3 years old, and just about 23 pounds. This little girl is timid. She'll need a lot of patience and TLC as she continues to discover that she really can have it all - a loving home with humans who cherish her and will take good care of her. Trinity lets me pick her up, but only if she's cornered in the house. She does not let you get close enough to grab her outside. She goes in and out very well to do her business, but she is basically following other dogs in and out of the house. You can tell it's hard for her to pass me to get through the open door. She runs like it's a race so as not to linger by the human for too long. You get the feeling she doesn't really know how to act in a house, and in her foster home, it's actually the resident dogs who are teaching her. She follows them out. She looks to them for cues on feeding time, and how to act. She's started going to the toy bin and getting toys out to chew. She loves running in the fenced in courtyard - we're talking zoomies! She even gets along with the two cats in the foster home. Basically, Trinity is a work in progress, and our hope is someday she'll be in a home, completely settled and comfortable, accepting of the love we all want to give her...but this will take time. She trusts me, her foster mom, but even so, she acts unsure. For example, if I walk out of the room, she'll follow, BUT, if I turn around to walk back, she'll retreat and run back to the baby-gated area I have set up for my dogs. (She seems to understand what a dog area is, and retreats to it like a safe zone.) She is extremely wary of her foster father, and I think, men in general. That said, she hesitantly does take cheese from him, so that is progress. She also takes cheese from our 11-year-old daughter, and they take naps together (largely because my daughter proactively lays down in the dog area - Trinity does not go up to a person on a couch or bed.). Trinity is extremely gentle, would not bite a soul. What she will do is run away from you (even in the house), bolt if she's outside, and shake. I must say though, the shaking has significantly diminished since she's been in her foster home. I believe she wants to be around people, but she simply doesn't know how -and- you definitely have to earn her trust. It's a slow process. Since we've had her, I take time each day to pick her up, hold her close and rock with her in the rocking chair. She's to the point where she stops shaking, can actually rest her head, and sometimes even falls asleep. As soon as I put her down, though, she is nervously scuttling away. So, that's the story. Do you have what it takes to continue working with her? Is your home the kind of environment that can help an anxious dog feel calm and loved? Do you have a dog that can be a friend to her? (I do believe she needs another dog around to make her comfortable.) Trinity is a great car-rider, and she's a good sleeper (no barking or whining at night). Trinity sleeps with my Boster Terrier inside a gated dog area. She can even eat with my dog in there. She doesn't seem to have food aggression, and is very excited for meals. I don't think she's ever seen a leash or been treated to a walk. At this point, I'm not ready to take her out of our fenced area, so that's not something she'll learn here. So, if leash-walking is something you want, you will have to work on it - hard. Everything with this baby will take time. The great news is that she's really healthy. There is no medicine to take or anything to keep an eye on medically. Trinity's biggest challenge will be freeing her mind to totally trust someone to love her. Is that you? ***Adoption Process*** -All current pets in the home need to be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines and on veterinarian prescribed flea/tick/heart worm prevention. -Everyone living in the home, including all resident dogs, must be present at the meet and greet located in the Southwest Ohio area. -We DO NOT ship dogs!!!
