Merla (ACCT-A-250249) is an approximately 4-year-old spayed female dog who was brought in as a stray by an APO on 5/15. On intake, she was found to have abrasions on all four paws. Her wounds have healed well overall, with only one paw abrasion still in the process of healing. Merla is hoping to find a cozy spot to rest her paws and continue healing in comfort. Medical: On 5/19 exam Doctor noted: "Small abrasion on lateral aspect of LF metacarpal paw pad, remainder of abrasions healed. Assessment: - Small abrasion on LF metacarpal paw pad Plan Ok to resume regular activity" On 5/15 triage staff noted: "Merla presented to triage due to all 4 paw pads actively bleeding and peeling, upon exam she was bright alert, responsive w/ no other visible injuries noticed. Weight: 59.4 lbs" On 5/15 exam Doctor noted: "Stray found with bleeding paws. Bright, alert, responsive and nervous. Scuffed paw pads on all 4 feet. Ambulatory x4, no lameness. Eupenic. Assessment: - Scuffed paw pads x4, bleeding Plan: Placing in kennel with padding on floor Starting clavamox 13.75 mg/kg PO BID x 7d Starting carprofen 4.4 mg/kg PO SID x 3d" On 5/15 staff noted: "Adult female pit mix with pink collar removed from inside business establishment. Front right paw is bleeding, back left paw also has skin coming off and is also bleeding. Dog had liquid diarrhea randomly and she did not squat to go, parvo test negative. Wide eyes, ears back, avoiding eye contact. Not eating any treats that were offered. Leash Skills: Opened the door and she came forward, ears back, wide eyes, low tail. Was easily leashed and came right out. Pulled moderately on leash through the kennel, ears pinned back, eyes darting, low still tail. Sociability: Asocial in the eval room. Kept the full length of the leash, tail low and still, ears pinned back, wide eyes, tense body. When handling, had the same body language, would move away when I stopped. Not eat any treats that were offered. Play: n/a Dog Interaction: Met Toosie Roll, tail low, ears pinned back, wide eyes, sniffed then moved away. Return to Kennel: Walked back pulling moderately on leash, ears pinned back, eyes darting, tail low and still. Hopped right into kennel and leash was removed easily. Color Level: Blue Recommendations and considerations:" On 5/15 staff noted: "Dog was wide eyed, ears forward, hard panting upon arrival.
