Meet Bert, part of a duo as iconic as the ones they were named after! These siblings have been growing up big and strong in their foster home, and are now ready to be adopted. Bert and Ernie are puppies with lots of energy! They love to chew on toys and romp around in the grass. Bert appears to be the leader of the two, with more confidence and spunk than his brother. These smart boys have been getting some basic training in their foster home and are always eager to earn a treat! They have “sit” almost mastered and are pretty good about going potty outside. Potential adopters should keep in mind that they still have lots of manners to learn, like walking on a leash and redirecting their mouths onto toys, but they are well on their way to becoming the perfect puppy companions. In their foster home, they interacted with an older cat who was tolerant of their puppy shenanigans and got along well! Keep in mind that a slow and thoughtful introduction is always necessary when introducing new pets, but these two may get along with resident cats and dogs. If you are looking for an energetic and smart companion who will keep you on your toys, come down and meet these boys today! The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
