🔥💥ADOPTABLE WEIM, or MAYBE LONG TERM FOSTER Meet a very special senior gentleman looking for a foster or forever home. ❤️ This sweet 11-12-year-old male Weimaraner came to the Louisville Weimaraner Rescue after his owner unexpectedly passed away. Sadly, extended family members were unable to keep him, and now he’s searching for someone willing to give him love, comfort, and safety during this chapter of his life. Despite everything he has been through, he remains incredibly gentle, loving, and affectionate. He enjoys cuddling, does not jump on people, and gets along wonderfully with children and other dogs—big and small. He may bark at cats through the door, but when face-to-face with one, he simply watches them calmly. We are still working on this and he would continue to be monitored around cats. He’s around goats and barks at them. When he first arrived, he struggled with some urinary accidents in the house, but he has already shown significant improvement. With regular potty breaks and a consistent routine, he has only had one accident in the past 3 days. He does well going outside, taking a walk around the yard perimeter, then happily returning inside. He has not had any bowel accidents in the home. He does enjoy “counter surfing” and begging for snacks—skills he has clearly perfected over the years. Considering his past situation, food may not always have been consistently available, though it is obvious he was loved because he is such a sweet and trusting dog. His recent veterinary checkup went very well overall. He tolerated his nail trim beautifully and is currently on medication to help with weakness in his hips. Since being in foster care, his mobility has already improved some with gentle activity, outdoor time, and play. He still tires easily and needs frequent rest breaks, but he continues to enjoy life and companionship. He is scheduled for a dental cleaning on June 10. After that, he may need to enter a boarding facility because his current foster already has five large rescue dogs and cannot continue long term. Please consider opening your home to foster or adopt this deserving senior boy. Senior dogs still have so much love to give, and they deserve comfort, kindness, and family for the rest of their lives.
