About Dixie F
Dixie is a gentle German Shepherd who’s been through a lot—she was severely injured in an attack but never fought back. Right now, she’s recovering from trauma to her leg and foot, which has left her with serious ligament damage and missing bone. Several toes may need to be removed, and while amputation is the last resort, her team is working toward specialized surgery to save her leg. Dixie’s healing is intense, involving daily professional bandaging and sedation for comfort, but she’s been resilient throughout. At her foster home, Dixie likes the comfort of her own room, enjoys stuffed toys, and spends quiet time with a ball, showing a calm, almost teenager-like independence. This caring girl gets along with dogs, cats, and children, making her a considerate companion. She’s house trained and will need a fully fenced yard as well as enrollment in obedience training as part of her adoption. All communication goes through email, and the rescue requires a dedicated family ready to help Dixie fully recover and thrive. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
