About Courteau Dicie

General Notes | If you believe that the most resilient souls make the absolute best companions, you will fall head over heels for Dicie. This beautiful puppy was sadly found abandoned, but despite a rough start to life and being completely deaf, she hasn't let anything dampen her incredible spirit. Dicie doesn't experience the world through sound—she experiences it through pure, unfiltered love and connection. Dicie is an exceptionally sweet girl who makes up for her lack of hearing with an abundance of affection. She is highly visual and intuitive, keeping her gorgeous eyes locked on her humans to see what's happening next. Because she can't hear you call her name, she relies on eye contact, touch, and body language to communicate, which creates an incredibly deep, unique bond with her caregivers. When she looks up at you and leans her entire little body in for a hug, your heart will completely melt. Being a deaf puppy doesn't stop Dicie from doing normal puppy things! She loves to play, investigate new toys, and curl up for long, peaceful naps (and as a bonus, thunderstorms and vacuums don't bother her one bit!). She is a smart, observant girl who is already learning that hand signals mean good things are coming. Dicie is looking for a patient, dedicated forever home that will guide her with love, keep her safe, and welcome a lifetime of silent, beautiful devotion. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP, and an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch within a few days. Our standard application processing timeline is 12 - 14 days. Personality | Super sweet and happy! Story | We were told these babies are doodle mixes! Other Dogs | Great with other dogs! Cats | Young enough to do well with kitties with proper intros! Children | Young enough to do well with kind, respectful kiddos. Training | In progress. Leash | Too little to leash walk, but will learn with time! Our rescue follows “No Paws on the Ground" (NPOG) as a safety protocol for young puppies, primarily used by veterinarians, shelters, and rescues. It means that an unvaccinated or partially vaccinated puppy should never be allowed to put their feet on the ground in any public or communal area where other dogs or animals may have been. These babies love to play in secure yards, and be snuggled and held on family walks. Activity Level | Moderate/high. Poodles are a smart, active breed so these babies are looking for an active home! Health Notes | Healthy and happy :) Thank you! Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
