About Joya

Meet Joya, the Labrador Pointer mix with human-like or even angelic eyes 🐾 Hello, I am Joya’s foster mom. I don’t even know where to begin or how to find the right words to describe her. She is pure love. Not just a dog… she feels like an angel in a dog’s body. I have been fostering Joya in New York City for one month now. Before me, she was in foster care in Bulgaria with her mother and siblings. I personally traveled to Bulgaria to bring Joya to the USA. She is the 6th dog I have helped find a home through my work between Bulgaria and New York, and if you count the two dogs I adopted myself, that makes eight. Joya comes from a very special little family story. Her mother, a Labrador mix, appeared one day out of nowhere in a marketplace in my hometown in Bulgaria. Like so many stray dogs, she simply showed up and gave birth on the street. When Joya and her sisters were just two days old, they were taken in by the organization Little Paws of Lovech. She grew up safe, loved, and surrounded by her mom, her two sisters, and one adoptive sister. One of her sisters and her adoptive sister have already been adopted in the USA, and another sister in Bulgaria. All of them are now happy and loved. Now about Joya herself. She is around 2 years old, weighs about 21 to 23 kg, and is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and has an EU passport. She is ready to travel anywhere her forever family is waiting. Her personality is something truly special. She looks at you with soft golden, human-like or even angelic eyes that feel like they speak directly to your soul. She does not just look at you, she communicates with you. I have never heard her bark even once. Instead, she “talks” in her own gentle way, sometimes even making soft singing sounds. Joya is incredibly calm, patient, and gentle. She is like an emotional support soul in dog form, therapy in herself. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats. Even when my own male cat and female dog were a bit jealous at first, she stayed calm, respectful, and slowly earned their trust and friendship. She adapted very quickly to routines, follows other dogs naturally, and learns from them with ease. She is fully house trained and does not pull at all on a leash, making walks easy, peaceful, and enjoyable. The only times she has shown any nervousness are when getting into the car and at the veterinarian. Other than that, she is very stable and calm in daily life. Joya is not crate trained, and she does not need a crate. She has lived both in an apartment and in a house during transitions while I was moving, and it is very clear that she is much more relaxed and happy in a home with space, ideally a house with a backyard and at least one friendly dog companion. She is also wonderful with cats. One more thing about her personality: Joya absolutely loves giving wet kisses on your face and hands. She is very affectionate and loves close contact. So if you are not someone who enjoys being kissed by a very loving and affectionate dog, she is probably not the right match for you. Joya recently turned 2 years old on May 6th while in my care. She needs a family who will understand her gentle soul. A calm home, love, patience, and time to bond. In return, she gives complete trust, deep loyalty, and a quiet companionship that stays with you for life. If you are looking for a dog who does not just live beside you but truly connects with your heart, Joya is that dog.
