To schedule a time to meet him, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org. --- - Came from a situation where he did not get the socialization and exposure to the world that dogs typically get from a young age, and because of this, he has struggled to make connections with and trust new people - Once he feels comfortable with you, he has the biggest heart and loves to cuddle, give kisses, and be close to you; will need some patience getting to that point, though, so he's looking for people who will treat him with understanding and give him time to build a relationship with them - Foster family says he loves being outdoors and going to doggy daycare to hang out with his dog friends - Already knows sit and come and appears to be fully potty trained; just remember any dog may take time to adjust to a new routine - Foster family says he sleeps through the night - Will thrive with a family who can give him the consistency, patience and structure he needs to continue building confidence - Has lived with younger children previously but may do best in a more mature home as he settles into a new place - Has done best with a "helper" dog when it comes to learning that people can be OK, and would likely benefit from a dog friend; doesn't always like to share his food, chews and toys with other dogs, though, so we're happy to discuss ways of managing that if you have another dog at home - Lived with cats in a previous home All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age) The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
