About Rosey

Rosey ACCT-A-249998 is a 1-year-old female that came in as a stray on 5/12. Finder noted on that she is "friendly." Rosey has been fairly shut down & stressed in the shelter so far, but nevertheless did allow all handling & even allowed staff to pick-up and put in kennel. She's a little unsure about dogs & people right now, but has tolerated interactions with both! Rosey just needs a little more time to adjust, and we would love to see who she becomes in a lower stimulation environment! Video: Meeting Rosey: https://youtu.be/VHE5fzP9fiU?si=w3f3AT8-wu3I-map Rosey/Minnie meet: https://youtu.be/usDsaCmnqcE?si=5jZXfiPQNjP1Vs9I BEHAVIORAL: Per Volunteer 5/15/2026: When I approached her kennel, she had nervous body language and crouched back. Then I dropped a few treats and she came forward nervously. I dropped a few more treats and her body language was pretty loose so I put the leash in and allowed her to sniff it. I then easily leashed her on the first try and when I went to tighten the leash, she seemed a bit nervous. She pulls quite a bit on leash, so I recommend a harness although at some point it seem like she was just trying to put space between us. We went outside and had a great dog meet! She approached cautiously and had slight hackles up at first, then gave nice sniffs and allowed sniffs back. The other dog, then just flopped on her belly and Rosey nicely sniffed her belly. In the play yard she took some time to explore and would come check me out every so often. Nice fence meets with a few more dogs! Pulled quite a bit walking inside and crouched to the ground when I went to clip her leash. Nervous but sweet lady!! Per volunteer 5/15/2026: Rosey did great in the yard today. She was a little nervous to come out of the kennel but was still excited. She started to open up after a couple minutes. She even came looking for attention. She realized she loves butt scratches. All the barking inside had her a little hesitant but she didn't need anything more than some encouraging words. She walked into the kennel on her own. Per Staff 5/14/2026: Brought Rosey into the behavior office for some down time. She hesitated to go through the door way. In the room she walked around with a hunched body, ears to the side and tail down sniffing the room. After some time she came over to me while i was sitting at my desk and gently placed her head in my lap soliciting pets. Her tail began to wag and her body loosened up. While i worked she laid under my desk right at my feet chewing on a bone. She would go in the crate easily when i left. However if i was in the office and she was in the crate she would bark. Per staff on 5/14 on dog meet: "Unsure and tolerant of Fletcher" Per staff on 5/13: "Kennel Presentation: Laying in the back part of the kennel. Tightly curled up with wide eyes and ears back. Tossed a treat in but she did not eat it. Leash Skills: Easy to leash and hesitantly came out of the kennel. Wide eyes darting, Ears back and tail down not moving while walking through the kennel. Sociability: Submissive, would give tail down flutters. Did not solicit for attention but tolerated it. Play: n/a Dog Interaction: Met Fletcher. Unsure and tolerant. Return to Kennel: Need to use leash pressure to go through the door ways as she was not eating any of the high value treats. Had to pick up to go in kennel. Color Level: Blue" Per staff on 5/12: "TTA due to being very timid, but sweet. Didn't want to stress pt even more than pt was especially having a fresh spay incision. Started meds and will try again tomorrow." ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
