After being adopted and then returned two years later because she couldn't get along with the family dog and became protective of her space, she arrived at the shelter withdrawn and anxious. Luckily, Elena’s former foster mom stepped in, giving her time to decompress and learn to trust again. With the right mix of patience and structure, Elena’s affectionate, sensitive personality began to shine through. She loves relaxing beside her person, chasing her favorite ball, and bringing quiet company wherever she goes. This six-year-old is fully potty trained and crate trained, rides calmly in the car, and completed a professional three-week board and train to grow her confidence and social skills. She knows all the basic commands, responds well on leash, and takes guidance eagerly. Elena is best as the only pet in an adults-only household, where her need for routine and attention is appreciated—she will reward it with deep loyalty and plenty of cuddles.
