About Petey

PETEY DOB: 05/30/2025 Pointer/Dalmatian/Pittie Mix Expected Wight + ~45lbs. Male Neutered Petey is a sweet loving and active pup! He was scheduled to be euthanized at the Frankling County Dog Shelter in January when staff members contacted us and told us about this sweet 7-8 month old pup that was a sweet by that was afraid of leashes. There were so many puppies at the shelter and not enough homes for them all and the staff members begged us to help this little guy. They said they thought that he may have been abused and that leashes may have been involved but we will never know for sure. He ducked when leashes came out and shook in the corner. When leashes weren't involved his was a wiggle-butt puppy. So something must have happened to him....and we want to help him find someone that is willing to invest in him to help him know that people (and leashes) can be good. So, with the help of a volunteer foster couple that offered to help care for him while we got him ready to be adopted, PetPromise stepped in. His foster Mom and Dad love him and say he is so faithful and loving. He says with them and would do anything for "his people." He is very active and would love to have a family that has a nice large yard, are active, and or have another equally active young dog at home. He does well with other pups off leash but is nervous and a bit protective of his people when around other dogs while on leash. He has been through several training sessions with @Private School Pup and is very smart and eager to please! He would do best in a home with and adult(s) that care willing to work with him on leash behavior and training and that con continue with training to help him overcome his anxiety on leash. But he is still a pup and his foster family is helping him overcome this fear of leashes. He really likes to play with other dogs and can be "too much" for older or less active pups. He has not been around cats or children and would benefit from being in a home with an adult(s) that understand dogs and that is willing to really give him the love and time to help him overcome his past. There aren't many people willing to invest in a not so perfect puppy...so poor Petey is overlooked again and again. He's still a baby trying to live in a human world without his real parents and he needs someone to see him and say that they want to make a difference in his life forever. Cold you do that? For him? If you are ready to make a lifetime commitment to care for and love this puppy for the next 12-17 years through thick and thin (not just until itโ€™s not convenient) and are ready to welcome this baby into your home, please complete an adoption application at https://form.jotform.com/223107373504044 We HIGHLY encourage obedience/behavior training for all of our pups once adopted into their forever homes. We do not have a shelter or sanctuary. All pets are cared for in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted. We require a home visit as part of the application process. In general, we are only able to coordinate home visits where we have volunteers available to do the home visit.
