About Taki
Taki is an 11-year-old mixed-breed dog quietly adjusting to an indoor life after spending his whole existence outdoors in a backyard with other dogs. Now in foster care, he’s making real strides, but he’s still learning that being inside is safe and that trust takes time. He’s got a sensitive streak and feels things deeply—gentle and sweet with his people, wanting to build real connection. Although timid at times, he generally warms up quickly and, once he settles in, seeks out affection with soft kisses and a quiet presence. When anxious or overwhelmed, he’ll retreat to his safe bathroom spot until he’s ready for more reassurance. With strangers, he’s cautious but friendly, often approaching for a gentle greeting and some face rubs once he feels comfortable. Dinnertime is Taki’s favorite moment—he perks up into an excited dinner dance and, while he’s treat-motivated, he’s selective about snacks. He’s not interested in toys yet, but he’s focused on staying close to his people and taking comfort in their company. Taki walks well on leash after initial excitement, is house trained, sleeps through the night, and is warming up to his crate. He manages being left alone if he feels secure. This boy adores other dogs and does best with a calm, confident canine friend to follow, learning from their lead and gaining confidence from their presence. Car rides require a boost into the car, but he rides well once settled. Given his outdoor background, Taki needs supervision in a fenced yard (he can clear a four-foot fence) while he’s still learning to trust and settle. He’s low energy and happiest simply being by your side. A quiet home with no small kids is best, since noisy or unpredictable environments are stressful for him.
