Meet sweet and gentle Sage! Sage is quiet, playful and independent, and enjoys lounging around on the couch. Some of her favorite activities are looking out the window, snacks and being pet. She is shy with new people and likely will prefer to only socialize with her family members. She preferred the teenagers in the home and was not a fan of the younger children. Sage has never lived with other cats or dogs. The cat you are adopting is very shy. Patience and a gentle approach will be necessary to form a bond and help this cat feel that they are safe in their new environment. This means that the cat is likely to not want to interact with you at first and will need time to settle in and relax. It is likely to take weeks to months for this cat to become comfortable in your home. Even once settled, they may always be a shy cat who runs from visitors. In order to have the best chance at creating a lasting bond with your new cat, you must go at their pace. When you get home, this cat should be set up in one room of your home, with a door that will stay shut while the cat adjusts. They should be offered a variety of foods and plenty of appropriate hiding places to help them feel safe during this transition. The cat should not be let out of their room until they seem like they are making progress and seem to want to explore more of the house. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You'll be able to meet available cats in the shelter.
