Copper came to us from a heartbreaking situation after spending the first four years of his life confined to a kennel, never once feeling grass beneath his paws. Now, at 6 years old, Copper is finally learning what it means to truly live and be loved. Though he still struggles with confidence, his quirky personality has begun to shine through, and he keeps a smile on his face every day. Copper is a soft-natured boy who thrives with kindness, patience, and gentle reassurance. He enjoys laying beside his person, soaking up the sunshine, and rolling happily in the grass — something he was denied for far too long. Copper walks great on a leash, though he prefers wearing a harness, and he is both kennel trained and potty trained. He is also wonderful in the car, especially if he can ride in the front seat with a soft blanket to curl up on. Maintaining a steady routine will help him continue building trust and confidence in his new home. Because of his past, bigger dogs can frighten Copper, so he would do best as the only pet or in a home with small, calm dogs. What Copper truly needs is a kind and gentle soul willing to give him the love and security he has always deserved. In return, he will be a loyal and devoted companion.
