Meet Lira -- the fierce little mama with a tender heart Lira arrived the day after tax season wrapped up, earning her place among our beloved "money babies." She came in with three tiny 4‐week‐old kittens, and despite everything she'd been through, she protected them with every ounce of strength she had. Now that her kittens are safe and growing, Lira is ready for a home of her own -- one that understands her past and celebrates her progress. Lira is a soft, talkative girl who adores attention once she feels secure. When she trusts you, she leans in for head scratches, chats with you about her day, and soaks up every bit of affection like she's been waiting her whole life for it. But she also carries some trauma. Dogs absolutely terrify her -- the sound alone can send her into panic mode, and in those moments she may redirect that fear toward the nearest person. It's not her fault; it's her history talking. Because of this, Lira needs a calm, dog‐free home with someone patient, steady, and willing to give her the time she needs to feel safe. Once she knows she's protected, her true personality shines: affectionate, expressive, and full of love to give. Lira is looking for someone who sees her not as a project, but as a partner -- someone who understands that trust is a gift, and once she offers it, it's forever. Just a quick note--she's currently in foster care, not at the shelter, so she won't be available for walk-in visits. If you'd like to meet her, we'll need to schedule a meet and greet in advance.
