About Wyatt

*If you are interested in adopting Wyatt, please fill out an application at: www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application Wyatt is a playful, cuddly 1-2 year old chihuahua mix that weighs 10 lbs. He is full grown and will not get any larger. Wyatt has a big personality packed into a tiny little body. He is best described is a funny, spunky, affectionate boy. He has that perfect balance of laid-back charm and adventurous spirit. He thrives on companionship and genuinely wants to be included in whatever his humans are doing. He’s just as happy tagging along for a busy day out as he is lounging at home soaking up attention. Affection is Wyatt's love language and he takes his role as a cuddle bug seriously. He loves to snuggle up close and rest his head on your chest so he can sneak in some sweet puppy kisses while you cuddle. He’s not just a lazy lap dog though. He is also very playful and spunky. He loves making doggy friends and will play, play, play until he's ready for a nap. He's also good about self entertaining and will toss his toys in the air then chase after them. If you work from home, he’d make the ideal coworker. He’s content hanging out nearby chewing on a bully stick, playing with toys, or simply napping beside your desk while keeping you company throughout the day. He has an easygoing, adaptable personality that allows him to fit into many different lifestyles. Want to hike scenic trails and explore the outdoors? He’s your adventure buddy. Prefer a cozy movie marathon the next day? He’ll be sprawled out beside you through the whole movie. Wyatt is looking for a forever family that will love him as much as he will love them. He would thrive in a family that includes in everyday life and that appreciates his goofy, joyful spirit. Wyatt may be tiny, but the amount of love he has to give is absolutely enormous. Wyatt is low to medium energy, and he's best described as a perfect mix of active and laid back. He enjoys a nice balance of playtime and relaxation, and is really good about entertaining himself with his toys and chew bones. He has short bursts of energy followed by long naps. He loves playing with toys, romping around with his doggy friends, and cuddling on the couch with his foster mom. His favorite games are mental stimulation toys that involve treats. This boy loves food and will show off his impressive dance moves where he stands on his back two feet when he really wants a treat. He also enjoys playing with the other dogs in his foster home and will pounce in front of another dog in a play bow when he's ready to engage in a fun game of chase or play wrestle. While he enjoys playing with his doggy and human friends, he’s also perfectly content to entertain himself with his favorite toys when he can't find anyone to play with. When he's ready for some down time, he will find a comfy spot on a dog bed and chew on a bone. He is the type of dog that would enjoy going on fun adventures exploring nature trails and then curling up on the couch after for cuddles and naps. He would thrive in a family that enjoys the outdoors, but also enjoys some lazy days cuddling on the couch too. His ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and he’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month, especially now that he is about to start teething.  Wyatt is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He is currently in a foster home with both small and large sized dogs, and he does well coexisting with them all. He especially loves to play with the smaller spunky chihuahua in the home and pounces around her trying to get her to pay attention to him. He doesn't interact with the larger dogs much, but doesn't mind hanging out with them. He would benefit from having another confident, playful dog in his forever home. He knows proper doggy communication skills and how to respect boundaries with doggy friends, and takes correction well if other dogs communicate that they don't want to play. He will scamper off to find something else to play with instead when he can't find a doggy playmate. He doesn't like to share his fresh chew bones with other dogs and will find a spot to chew on it where he won't be bothered by another dog trying to steal it from him. When it comes to other dogs or partially chewed up older chews, he doesn't mind sharing those at all though. He doesn't pay any attention to the outdoor cats around the neighborhood and walks right past them without giving them a second glance, so he would be able to join a family that has a cat in the home. He would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as he is playful and may eventually want to play with them if there are no other dogs in the home. He would do well with kids that are elementary school age and older. He can be playfully mouthy when he's really excited and can be easily redirected with a toy, so no toddlers or babies in the home that would not understand his goofy play style. He loves to play, cuddle, and share his sweet puppy kisses so a family with older kids that understand how to be gentle and can interact safely with a tiny pup his size is necessary.  Wyatt is kennel trained, leash trained, and potty trained. He will sleep in a kennel at night with no fuss if he has to, but enjoys a treat and some of his favorite toys as he settles in. He really loves when he gets to sleep in bed with his foster mom though and would love to snuggle up in bed with his family every night so he can get in as many cuddles as possible. When he needs to go outside and potty he will walk to the back door and start circling around to notify you he needs out. He does need a consistent schedule and be taken out every few hours initially until he gets used to a new schedule. He will not potty in his kennel at all so it is recommended to keep him kenneled when you leave the home until he is fully settled in and on a set schedule for potty breaks. He is comfortable walking on a leash and enjoys going out for walks around the neighborhood. He doesn't pull or react to people or other dogs while on walks, and walks past roaming kitties he passes without paying them any mind. He really loves to be with his human, so he will walk with you as long as you'd like to go. He also enjoys walking with a doggy friend and will trot right beside them without getting leashes tangled up together. Wyatt's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in, but he would also do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse as long as he gets frequent exercise and potty breaks throughout the day. He is comfortable going up and down stairs so he would do fine living in a home with stairs. He would prefer if his human works from home so he can spend lots of time with them, but he can adjust if his human works outside of the home as long as they can go home on their lunch break to take him out. No public dog parks for this little boy because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. He would do love to have a family that has another friendly, playful dog around his size and older kids to play and snuggle with. He would coexist well if there's a kitty in the home too. With his adaptable, laid back nature, he would be a wonderful fit for a variety of households. His ideal family is one that wants a playful pup to join in on fun outdoor adventures and also cuddle up on the couch after. He’s ready to grow up alongside a family who will cherish his playful spirit, nurture his confidence, and include him in all of life’s big and small moments. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who will make every day brighter and every night cozier, Wyatt is the pup for you. Wyatt is in a foster home in Central Texas.
