About Negroni

Negroni entered Riverside Shelter as a stray, and sadly, she wasn't claimed. We welcomed her as a Frosted Face on March 24th. Negroni is estimated to be 9 years old and weighs 47 lbs. She is super sweet and knows commands including SIT and SHAKE. Volunteers note that Negroni is such a happy girl and appreciates every pet she gets. We can only imagine the joy a loving forever home would bring this gentle sweetheart! Negroni went on a two-week Frosted Fling to enjoy lots of loving care in the comfort of a home, while we learned more about her. We received a great report from her foster mom: "Negroni settled in quickly after coming home with us. She has lots of spunk and energy, but at her core she's a total cuddle bug who just wants to be close to her people. She's naturally curious and enjoys exploring-especially anywhere she suspects treats might be hiding (like the counter!). That said, any minor mischief is more than made up for by her intelligence and her clear desire to please. She responds very well to guidance and direction, and she quickly became an excellent house guest. As you'd expect, Negroni loves her walks! Her leash manners are a work in progress. She does much better on a harness than a collar, and when there are no distractions, she walks beautifully with no pulling. When she sees people or other dogs, she can get excited and pull-she's not reactive or aggressive, she just really wants to say hello. She will lunge at bikes, so some extra awareness is needed there. Negroni rides well in the car-she may get a little excited at first, but settles in quickly and seems to enjoy the ride. She has shown absolutely no signs of aggression, even around food or treats. She may bark a bit when watching the world from the window, but it's driven by curiosity and a desire to engage, not defensiveness. She's met a few neighborhood dogs and has been consistently friendly and eager to play. Most of all, Negroni loves being near her people and will happily follow us from room to room whenever she can. At night, she settles nicely into her bed in our bedroom. Negroni is a smart, affectionate, and lively companion who will thrive in a home ready to give her plenty of love, structure, and attention."
