About Doodlebug

Meet Doodlebug — part gentle woodland creature, part retired grandpa trapped in a puppy body, and somehow already carrying himself like he pays taxes and has opinions about lawn maintenance. 🐛🤎 📍 Location: Skiatook, OK -Adopters will need to come pick up their new furry family member themselves. Apply at: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app Doodlebug has a quiet, thoughtful personality that makes him feel wise beyond his tiny puppy years. He’s gentle, patient, and never demanding for attention. He’s the biggest puppy in the litter, but also the gentlest — a soft-hearted little tank who never feels the need to shove his way to the front of the line. He simply waits patiently, fully convinced that eventually someone will notice how ridiculously adorable he is. This sweet boy absolutely soaks up affection like a fuzzy little sponge and quietly leans into every cuddle like it’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to him. He’s basically the puppy version of a weighted blanket with emotional support eyes. Doodlebug is a 6 week old, 6lb male Rocky Mountain Cattawoo mix. 🪲✨(That is not an officially recognized breed by anyone except us and probably other rescuers that are exhausted from always playing the guessing game.) Now before the DNA police arrive with tiny clipboards and judgment, his suspected breed ingredients appear to include Husky, German Shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog, and Border Collie. Mama Crickette came to us after someone discovered she had very casually moved herself and her puppies directly into a sofa like she was paying rent there. After making her furniture-based debut, the family was brought to the shelter and eventually joined our fluffy butt family here at PPFT. While Dad remains an unidentified traveling salesman with commitment issues, mama is believed to be a German Shepherd/Husky mix and currently weighs around 49lbs. We don’t think dad was very large either, so our very professional scientific estimate is that Doodlebug may end up somewhere around 50–60lbs full grown. Let's be real though....Rescue math is really just astrology with paw prints. He could be bigger, he could be smaller. BUT — for those of you who adore rescue dogs but have hesitated because giant “Pyrabear” size dogs feel a little too intimidating for your living room, your spinal discs, or your sedan… this may be your moment. Doodlebug appears to be part of the “fun-sized floofer” variety instead of the “small polar bear roaming your kitchen at 2am” variety. Doodlebug is very much a “friends first, ask questions later” kind of tiny gentleman. He absolutely loves playing with his littermates and has also been enjoying adventures with the foster family’s Pomeranian, Tallulah — who is approximately 14% dog and 86% tiny opinionated cloud. Doodlebug handles it all with his usual calm, thoughtful vibe and happily joins in for puppy wrestling, exploring, and general important baby dog business. As for cats, Doodlebug has not officially met any yet because he is currently still the size of a baked potato with legs. At this age, slow and proper introductions will be important, but young puppies typically adapt very well with guidance and supervision. Kids? Oh, he adores them. Doodlebug is the kind of puppy who quietly soaks up affection from every human he meets like he’s been training his entire life to become someone’s emotional support weighted blanket. He’s gentle, sweet, and very people-oriented without being overly demanding — basically the toddler-friendly version of a fuzzy little old soul. Doodlebug’s current energy level is sitting at about a 3 out of 10 — which means he absolutely enjoys playing, exploring, waddling around investigating important backyard leaf situations, and participating in tiny puppy shenanigans… but he is also deeply committed to the art of napping. Personality-wise, He has this stoic, old-soul personality that makes him feel less like a puppy and more like a tiny wise woodland creature trapped in a fluffy baby dog body. He’s never pushy or demanding and seems perfectly happy to patiently wait for attention instead of launching himself into your lap like a caffeinated squirrel. But the second someone notices him and starts loving on him? He absolutely melts into the affection and soaks it up like he’s been emotionally preparing for that exact moment all day. Now because Doodlebug is still just a tiny baby fluff nugget disguised as a wise old woodland philosopher, his future family will need to continue working on all the normal puppy things — potty training, leash training, socialization, basic manners, and the extremely important art of “please do not eat random objects you found. Socialization will be especially important so he can continue building confidence around new people, places, sounds, animals, and experiences. Even though he already has a calm, thoughtful personality, puppies are basically little sponges with paws, and positive experiences now help shape them into well-adjusted adult dogs later. And of course: puppy proofing. Because despite looking like a gentle fuzzy angel who would never commit crimes, puppies somehow always discover that electrical cords, socks, paper towels, leaves, remote controls, and mystery floor crumbs are apparently Michelin-star delicacies. 🪲🤎 So if you’ve been searching for a puppy who is equal parts gentle old soul, fuzzy cuddle bug, thoughtful little sidekick, and tiny woodland cryptid disguised as a dog… Doodlebug may just be your guy. Doodlebug is located in Skiatook, OK. -Adopters will need to come pick him up themselves because unfortunately we do not offer puppy delivery, teleportation, drone shipping, or “can you just meet me halfway to another planet” services for tiny fluffy babies. 📝 You’ll need to fill out an adoption application first so we can send it along to his foster family for review. Contrary to popular belief, staring lovingly at his photos on Facebook does not count as an official application process.
