She’s a little fighter in every sense of the word. When she first arrived, she was incredibly fragile and heartbreakingly tiny, but quitting simply was not on her agenda. Despite her size, Katydid is fearless. She’s curious about everything, loves exploring, and already seems way too smart for someone whose current hobbies include waddling dramatically and falling asleep mid-thought. She studies the world carefully, figures things out quickly, and somehow already knows exactly who her favorite person is. The second she hears her foster dad’s voice, she comes running like a tiny fuzzy groupie late for backstage passes. Katydid may have started life as the tiniest member of the crew, but she’s quickly proving she has enough personality, determination, and heart packed into her little body to make up for it ten times over. Katydid is a 6 week old, approximately 2lb female Appalachian Sofa Gremlin Shepherd mix. 🦗 (Official breed classification pending scientific review and at least three people arguing in the comments.) Joking aside, our best guess is Husky/German Shepherd with possible Australian Cattle Dog and Border Collie. Mama Crickette came to us after someone discovered she had decided the ideal place to raise newborn puppies was inside their sofa. Honestly? Innovative. Resourceful. Very “housing market is tough right now” energy. Mama is believed to be a German Shepherd/Husky mix and currently weighs around 49lbs. Dad, meanwhile, remains an unidentified traveling salesman who apparently rolled through town, left behind some tiny fluffy chaos nuggets, and vanished into the night like a canine folk legend. Based on mama’s size and our best completely unscientific rescue math, we think Katydid will probably land somewhere around 50-60lbs full grown. But honestly? She could stay smaller. She could get bigger. Rescue puppies are basically mystery loot boxes with fur. The good news? We do expect her to stay on the smaller side compared to our usual Pyrabear-sized applicants who eventually grow large enough to accidentally redecorate your coffee table with their tail alone. So if you’ve been thinking, “I love the fluffy rescue dogs but perhaps I would also like to keep my rotator cuff intact,” THIS may be your moment. Katydid may only weigh 2 pounds, but socially she behaves like she’s hosting a neighborhood block party. She absolutely loves playing with her littermates and has also become good friends with the foster family’s Pomeranian, Tallulah. Honestly, watching them interact feels a little like watching a tiny woodland fairy apprentice shadowing an overly confident sorority president. Katydid thinks everyone is a potential best friend and approaches life with the confidence of someone who has never once considered the possibility of being too small for anything. As for cats, Katydid hasn’t officially met any yet because right now she’s still approximately the size of a baked potato with legs. And kids? Katydid LOVES them. She is very affectionate, social, and happy to soak up attention from basically anyone willing to admire her tiny face and tell her she’s cute (which, to be fair, is the correct response). She enjoys affection, cuddles, and being included in the action, making her the kind of puppy who already seems convinced the world exists purely to love on her. Katydid’s energy level sits around a 3 out of 10 — meaning she enjoys exploring, toddling around, and investigating the world for approximately twelve minutes before dramatically collapsing into a nap like she just completed a 14-hour shift at the factory. Katydid is the runt of the litter and truly the tiniest little fighter. When she first arrived, she was incredibly small and fragile, but she never stopped trying, never stopped pushing forward, and absolutely refused to be left behind. Despite her tiny size, Katydid is fearless. She is smart, observant, curious, and constantly trying to figure things out. You can practically see the gears turning in her little brain as she explores and studies the world around her. And while Katydid is brave and adventurous, she also has an incredibly sweet side. She absolutely adores her foster dad and already recognizes his voice. The second she hears him, she comes running toward him with all the urgency of a tiny emotional support potato late for an important meeting. She may be little, but Katydid has already mastered the art of taking up a very large amount of space in people’s hearts. Now, while Katydid is extremely adorable and emotionally convincing, her future family does need to remember that she is still a baby. A very tiny baby. A baby whose current qualifications include “fearless,” “cute,” and “occasionally waddles directly into poor decisions.” Her new family will need to continue working on all the important puppy basics like potty training, leash training, socialization, and general manners. Like all puppies, Katydid will need safe exposure to new people, places, sounds, and experiences so she can grow into a confident, well-rounded adult dog instead of a tiny fluffy conspiracy theorist who believes the vacuum cleaner is plotting against her. The good news? She is incredibly people-oriented, eager to engage with the world, and already showing signs of being very intelligent and observant. With patience, consistency, structure, and lots of positive experiences, Katydid has all the makings of an amazing companion wrapped up in one very tiny package. 🦗💕 So if you’ve been searching for a puppy who is equal parts brave little survivor, tiny adventure goblin, cuddle enthusiast, and suspiciously intelligent woodland creature… Katydid is ready to steal your heart, your personal space, and probably at least one sock. ✨ To apply, you’ll need to fill out an adoption application so we can send your information over to her foster family for review. Because despite Katydid’s confidence, she unfortunately cannot personally sort through applicants herself yet. The lack of opposable thumbs continues to hold her back professionally. 📍Location: Skiatook, OK (Yes, adopters are required to pick her up. No, she cannot be shipped via Amazon Prime, DoorDash, UPS, carrier pigeon, or magical woodland transport service. Our tiny sofa goblin must be picked up in person.)
