About Gumball

Gumball was found as a stray with his brother Darwin (who we also saved) on the streets of Brooklyn NY. They were both taken to the New York Animal Care Centers, the crowded municipal animal shelter here in NYC. Both dogs were shy and avoidant. Both were trembling in fear. Both their times were coming to an end and we are grateful that two people stepped up to save both their lives. These are GUMBALL's STATS Approximate age 1-2 Approximate weight 53pounds Breed (s) Anticipated medium Lab Mix. Waiting on DNA results with Wisdom Panel Spayed or neutered? Neutered Good with: kids? Yes strangers? Yes other dogs? Yes cats? Unsure On leash? Good. Learning to not try and eat everything and not be reactive towards other dogs. Not aggression just excitement. Housetrained? Yes Crate trained? No Apartment is fine as long as the owner is active and can give him the exercise he needs. Home with a yard if long walks and adventures aren’t things the adopter can do. A home with another playful dog would be great for him but I don’t think required. I love when he falls asleep and rolls on his back and he sleeps with his tongue out to the side and teeth showing. He sleeps through the night on the bed right next to you or happily on his dog bed. The way he plays with his toys alone. He throws them in the air and tries to catch/pounce on them. He also loves to “hold” your hand. He has slight separation anxiety which improves all the time and he almost fully potty trained. Meet Gumball — your future adventure buddy and certified cuddle expert 🐾 Gumball is a young, handsome pup (estimated around 1–2 years old, but likely closer to 1) weighing in at about 53 pounds of pure love and personality. We suspect he may be a Lab mix, and we’re currently waiting on his DNA results to confirm! This sweet boy is the perfect balance of energy and affection. Outside, Gumball is all about the fun — he loves running, playing, hiking, and going on long, sniff-filled walks. Inside, he transforms into a laid-back companion who’s happy to relax with a toy, chew on a bone, or curl up for a nap right by your side. He’s truly the best of both worlds. Gumball is almost fully potty trained and has already proven himself trustworthy when left alone for 8–10 hours with his foster sister — no accidents! While he’s not crate trained yet, he’s adjusting well to home life. He sleeps through the night like a champ and usually starts his day around 7am. He’s incredibly dog-friendly and would thrive in a home with another playful pup, especially since he’s still working through a bit of separation anxiety. On walks, he’s making progress with leash manners — his only “reactivity” comes from excitement when he sees other dogs and wants to say hello. He’s also learning that he doesn’t need to snack on everything he finds along the way (a leftover habit from his stray days). Gumball is great with kids and has shown no signs of food aggression, though he may try to sneak a bite from a slower eater if given the chance. He’s very food-motivated, which makes training a rewarding experience for both of you. He would do best in an active home that can give him the exercise and engagement he needs — whether that’s daily walks, outdoor adventures, or a yard where he can run and play. Just as important, Gumball needs a patient and loving adopter who will give him a little time to settle in and feel safe. Once he trusts you, he becomes a total “Velcro dog” — loyal, affectionate, and always by your side. Gumball is still learning what it means to be a family dog, but his heart is already all in. With a bit of patience and a lot of love, he’s going to make an incredible lifelong companion. Could Gumball be your perfect match? 🐶💛
