This 3-year-old gentleman has learned the hard way that forever isn't always truly forever, but he refuses to give up hope! Apollo's recent family neglected to secure the doors to their home and Apollo wound up on the front lawn. At the same time, their neighbor's 5 large dogs were off-leash in their front yard. Apollo was attacked and wound up with several puncture wounds. We are so thankful he did not lose his life! As you can see, these humans failed Apollo and our sweet boy is now in need of a true forever home. Apollo is truly one of the sweetest dogs we have had in our care. He is super chill and just wants to hang out with his humans and cuddle. He enjoys spending time in the yard and we will are seeking a home for him with a physically fenced yard so he can sniff in all the good scents to his heart's content. Apollo walks well on the leash and knows his basic commands. He is not a fan of thunder, but then again, most dogs (and humans) are not. Apollo is believed to be a St. Bernard mix, maybe with some Newfie, and he weighs about 85 lbs. Whatever breeds he may be, he is GORGEOUS with his beautiful black coat and white blaze on his chest! His paws even have some white spots on them as though Apollo stepped in some paint! Just look at how handsome Apollo is with his red bandana. He is one of the COOLEST dogs ever! When Apollo was returned to us, we found that his beautiful coat had been shaved (oh no!) so we have included some before and after photos of him. His fur is already growing back in and he will be looking more like himself in no time. Apollo is a young dog who will benefit from continued guidance in his leash skills and basic commands, to help him bond with his humans and feel more confident, especially after his sad past experience. He didn't do anything wrong but he lost his home, and he deserves to feel loved and become his best handsome, sweet self. Check out Apollo's video to fall in love! Apollo is up-to-date on vaccinations, micro-chipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. If you would like to be part of Apollo's rescue story, and you have already been approved for adoption through J & L, please contact Lisa at: lucyphil99@gmail.com or 251-404-0045 to be considered for Apollo. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to take on whatever comes with the dog. It is up to YOU to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. This is what it means to rescue. If not yet approved, please use this link to submit an online application: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/8O06oK9Af8 You can also visit our website to learn more: http://jandlgoldenretrieverrescue.com/index.html Please direct any questions regarding your application status to Lisa at: lucyphil99@gmail.com Thank you! About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters will be required to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may indicate that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are frequently getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and complete the application process so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. Adoption Fees - effective October 1, 2024 $1000 Purebred Puppy up to 12 months $1450 Purebred Puppy Pair up to 12 months $450 Dogs under 7 years $250 Seniors, 7+ years $650 Pairs The information provided on each dog is based on the observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters, and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, J & L does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will behave and adapt in your home. A contract is signed on the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring their dog to a vet within 7 business days. All dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. However, if an adopter's vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog may be returned and a full refund would be provided. Most of our dogs are fostered in private homes. We do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! To this end, the rescue retains an interest in each dog and our dogs can never be surrendered, re-homed, or sold. Should an adopter no longer be able to keep their J & L dog, J & L must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer providing proper care. Adopters agree to follow up visits as needed. Please be a ray of light for this J & L dog and make a tax deductible donation toward medical care and other expenses. Every cent of your generosity goes directly toward the care of a J & L dog. THANK YOU!
