Opawa Jason is a 6-year-old, male greyhound, who was sent to us from New Zealand. This greyt boy has settled into foster care and is ready to find his forever home in the Midwest! What New Zealand has to say about him: Jason has really become one of the kennel favourites since he arrived, he quickly settled into the slower pace of life here and has become a very special well rounded dog, Jason walks beautifully on lead and doesn’t pull, he’s super clean in his kennel space and likes things to be kept neat and tidy. Jason loves coming down to the adoption office and hanging out with his greyhound buddy Remington and Roxy Whippet. While his trainer mentioned he can be stressy and headstrong, I haven’t noticed any stress. He is a no nonsense dog and does like some structure in his life so he knows where he fits into this big puzzle called life. Jason will be missed when he embarks on his next big adventure. What his foster has to say: Jason is your perfect shadow. He simply wants to be wherever you are, doing what you're doing... or napping. He is 110% committed if you decide on going for a walk, but if you let him choose the activity, it'll be a toss-up between a nap and a car ride. Jason looks to the humans of the household to know what is going on and how he should behave, so kids with big imaginations are very confusing and stressful for him. He much prefers humans who know who they are and what they want out of their day, and therefore him. Jason enjoys the company of other greyhounds (and probably other dogs his size), but small dogs, cats, and small animals clearly exist only to be chased. He does not mind stretches of solo nap-time, it being his favorite activity, so humans with jobs and/or social obligations fit into his lifestyle, as long as they give him the love he's due when they return. He will tolerate the outdoors if you are into that sort of thing, but he is happiest doing his business and returning to the cozy napping realm of the indoors. This dog is being fostered in the Des Moines Area. We do not ship dogs. Adopters must be committed to meeting the dog in the area it is being fostered. The adoption fee for a dog from HGA is $300.00. This fee pays for medical costs including spay/neuter surgery, shots, parasite treatments, teeth cleaning, microchip and microchip registration fee. Each dog also comes with a special sighthound collar and leash set and muzzle. There is a $30 non-refundable application fee.
