About Buddy
Buddy is a 2-year-old Papillon/Chihuahua mix who has shown remarkable progress since leaving his previous home. He originally spent his life outdoors and rarely interacted with people or played with toys. Since moving to his foster home in New Jersey, Buddy’s personality has begun to shine. He’s become affectionate, enjoys belly rubs, and will curl up beside you on the couch. He can be calm but still has plenty of youthful spirit. Ready to shower you with kisses, Buddy usually stops barking if you engage him with a toy. He occasionally has accidents, but generally does well with house training and settles in his crate easily at night or when left alone. Buddy needs structure and security—he remains a flight risk and will bolt for open doors. A fully fenced yard is non-negotiable, and all doors must be well-secured. He is best suited for a calm, adult-only home, ideally with a single mid-aged woman like his current foster. Buddy ignores other dogs and gets along with cats but does not do well in homes with children or a lot of bustling activity. Patience and time are essential, and only serious adopters committed to his ongoing adjustment should inquire. Adopters must live in New Jersey, own their home, and have a secure yard. Foster-to-adopt arrangements are possible to ensure the right fit for both sides. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!

Questions about Buddy
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Buddy, being a Papillon/Chihuahua mix, typically thrives in quiet homes with consistent routines. Smaller breeds like him do best in calm environments, especially when there aren't a lot of sudden changes or high activity levels.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Papillon/Chihuahua mixes like Buddy benefit from a securely fenced yard to play and safely explore. They don’t need tons of acreage but do require a safe space due to their flight risk tendencies.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Buddy does not do well in homes with children and, generally, his breed mix can be sensitive to loud or unpredictable environments. An adult-only home suits him best.
