Meet Dalton, a 5-year-old Husky mix, weighing 67 pounds (as of 4/13/26). This playful boy was found as a stray in Tennessee. He's known for loving snow and ice which is perfect because living in New England is on his wish list! Bring on the snow! UPDATE: This boy is a GEM! He has impeccable indoor manners. Learned the doggie door right away. Completely house trained. Calm, quiet, friendly, sweet as can be. Not a mean bone in his body. Completely trustworthy when alone in the house. Treat motivated and he does a little happy dance when you are getting his dinner ready. Went right up to my husband for affection when he first met him (his profile indicates a little shy around men). Rides great in the car. Just a lovely goofy boy. He’s been lovely. Enjoys zooming around the yard. My two senior rescues like him a lot. They were all immediately comfortable with one another. Dalton's the kind of dog that's confident, tolerant, social, playful, and sweet. He's basically if your favorite person in the world suddenly became a dog. We'd watch that movie! When he's not playing in his moderate/high-energy playgroups with other dogs, Dalton's finding ways to make snow angels with the leftover ice from last winter! He's not sure why it hasn't melted yet, but he's happy for it just the same. While Dalton is a friend to strangers and dogs alike, he is a little shy of human males at first but is happy after they pet him. Maybe it's the strong cologne? Maybe it's the scruffy beard? Dalton doesn't know, but if you're a man, he hopes you'll give him some grace as he gets used to you! When he meets strangers, he'll back away then come forward to sniff as if to say "You're alright in my book." He may casually bark "hello" if people walk by his fence too. Dalton hasn't had experience with kids or cats yet, but he's looking forward to giving them a chance. He's not opposed to bribes either! Dalton loves chasing after balls and running to his heart's content. He'll thrive with an active family that loves to go on adventures 'cause his energy is so contagious! He's calm on a leash but sometimes pulls hard because he's so excited by all the sights and sounds around your neighborhood. Like the trash your neighbor still hasn't thrown away. Or the wad of gum on the sidewalk that you almost stepped on. Dalton is on the lookout for it all! He doesn't mind going in his crate and seems to be house-trained. He doesn't know any commands yet, but who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Dalton will be the perfect companion for your home. Adopt him today! All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be. To adopt or learn more about Dalton, you must fill out an adoption application. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works. Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
