Xena is a spayed adult female Black Labrador Retriever/Akita mix with a short, black coat. She is about 9 months old and currently living in Livingston, TX. While she has not yet mastered house training, Xena has received all her vaccinations. Xena thrives around other dogs and is looking for the right home to help build her confidence with humans and introduce her fully to the world at her own pace.

About Xena

Xena is one of those rare, incredibly good-natured dogs—the kind who makes friends with every canine she meets. She’s gentle, patient, and truly enjoys the company of other dogs more than anything. Because her world has mostly revolved around canine pals, humans remain a curious mystery to her. She likes a good pet or a romp around the yard, especially when she gets to be the one in pursuit, but she still finds human body language a little strange and can startle at fast movements. When she’s unsure, her little black tail keeps wagging, as if she’s reassuring everyone she’s all love, just trying to figure things out a step at a time. Xena needs a household that gets joy from the playful side of dogs but also respects her need to adjust at her own pace. She’s happiest outdoors, so a yard is a real plus. Xena is spayed as of 5/8/26, and her vaccinations are current. If patience and fun both suit your style, she’s looking for you in Livingston, TX. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Xena

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Xena, as a Black Labrador Retriever/Akita mix, benefits from a stable environment with plenty of structure. She does best in homes with a yard where she can play and decompress, especially in households that enjoy outdoor activities.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

This mix enjoys access to a secure yard or frequent walks. Xena will need space to play, stretch her legs, and burn off her energy, so homes with enough outdoor room are ideal.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Both Labradors and Akitas can be good with children when socialized early. Xena is gentle and patient, but she may do best in a home with older children who are sensitive to her shyness around people.
