Meet Rio Rio is a sweet, playful, and extremely people-friendly teenage kitten who is also wonderfully social with other cats. From the very beginning, Rio acted like a kitten who once had a home of her own — perhaps even as someone’s only pet — because she instantly trusted humans and wanted them to be her very first playmates. From her first day in foster care, Rio already knew all the basics: how to neatly eat from a bowl, use the litter box, and happily entertain herself with a variety of toys. But what stood out most was how, at the end of the day, she simply wanted to curl up beside her human and fall asleep close to them — something not often seen in kittens born on the streets. Sadly, Rio’s story changed one day when she suddenly appeared outside a busy Flanigan’s restaurant at a crowded intersection. She approached patrons one after another, meowing desperately as if asking for help, but no one stopped for her. Most likely, Rio had been abandoned simply because she was no longer a tiny kitten. Eventually, a kind person who cares for a nearby cat colony noticed how unusually friendly Rio was and moved her away from the dangerous traffic area to the safety of the colony. But Rio clearly did not belong outside. She followed her rescuer closely, trying not to be left behind, making it obvious that what she truly wanted was human companionship and a real home. Although the first person who took Rio in wished they could keep her, their resident dogs were unfortunately not cat-friendly. That is how Rio eventually came into the care of a foster with Saving Sage. Rio adjusted quickly to indoor life once again. She learned the foster home routine with ease, met the resident cats, carefully observed them at first, and soon happily joined in during kitty playtime. She has blossomed into a loving, affectionate young cat who adores both people and feline friends.
