About Quartz
Quartz is a bouncy, playful 6-month-old puppy searching for a patient family willing to move at his speed as he figures out a new routine. He enjoys romping with other dogs, and he’d be happiest in a home with a confident dog who can show him the ropes. Together with his brother, Quartz arrived at the shelter shy about people and new experiences, which means he’s still learning how to handle change. At the shelter, Quartz will come up to new folks for a treat but isn’t comfortable with petting or physical affection from strangers just yet. The surest way to win him over is with plenty of treats and tossing toys around in the yard, especially if another playful dog joins in. Quartz picks up new skills quickly and enjoys confidence-building games like hand targeting and place training. Because Quartz didn’t get a lot of early socialization, new sights and sounds can feel overwhelming, and progress requires patience and care. The shelter’s behavior team is available to help adopters navigate remedial socialization and set Quartz up for success. He needs a calm, quiet home with low foot traffic, a secure space to play, and a dog friend to help him feel safe as he grows. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Quartz
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Quartz, a mixed breed dog, does best in a stable, calm home where routines are predictable and there’s access to a secure yard or space to play. He especially thrives with a confident dog companion and in an environment without too much chaos.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Quartz will benefit from regular outdoor time in a secure yard or similar space. Mixed breed dogs his age appreciate enough room to romp and explore safely, helping burn energy and build confidence.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Quartz is still learning about the world and may feel overwhelmed in homes with a lot of noise or activity. He is best matched with families who can keep things calm and move at his pace, ideally in homes with older, respectful children if any.
