About Jake
Jake, better known as “Jake from State Farm,” is a 14-year-old Silky Terrier who keeps life lively no matter his age. He still enjoys daily walks, loves to play, and gravitates to wherever people are gathered. Jake is the type who wants to be involved in just about everything and thrives when he’s got company nearby. If you’re home a lot, he’ll appreciate the extra togetherness—he hates being left out and will make sure you know it. He bonds closely and, once settled, becomes both playful and affectionate—a trustworthy little shadow. But Jake has his sensitive side, especially when feeling stressed or during moments like grooming and vet visits. He needs someone patient who understands that pick-ups out of the blue or rough handling will get him anxious. Respecting his boundaries and moving at his pace are key. Jake is good with cats and is currently a bonded pair with Luna Bee. Interactions with dogs are mixed; he can be reactive and needs further evaluation around them. A stable, calm home with older, respectful children would suit him well. Like many seniors, Jake needs ongoing support: prescription urinary food, consistent grooming, dental checkups, and monitoring for mild heart disease and urinary issues. He’s neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped—still happy, engaged, and ready for a home that can appreciate every quirk as much as every cuddle. This could be the start of something paw-some.
