He has demonstrated high levels of FAS while in care. During his assessment he was observed to maintain his distance from handlers and vocalize (huff) at them when they move. Mustard will accept treats and pets from familiar handlers. Mustard is apparently healthy. Mustard arrived at MACC as a stray with no known history. During his last stay in the care center Mustard was observed to be fearful. He reportedly growled during both his intake and medical exam. He was observed to be pancaking during leashing, and once out of his kennel, he continued to display a tense, fearful posture. However, he did show some interest in high-value treats and accepted a few when offered. During his current stay in the care center, Mustard has continued to be observed as fearful. Noted to growl at handlers when they attempt to interact. During his assessment Mustard huffed at the handler when they tried to coax him. However, he has remained receptive to treats. Due to the detailed behavior, Muster will need placement in an adult-only home that can support him using positive reinforcement to work on his behavior.
