Buckle and his brother were part of an unwanted little of puppies born in a rural south Texas town we help. The owner of their mother surrendered them to a shelter we help when they were very young. We were able to save them because one of our fosters agreed to bring them into her home. Buckle has been in our care since he was 5 weeks old, and he has completed his veterinary care. Now he’s ready to find his person. Buckle recently traveled to Oregon from Texas to help him find his family. Buckle is a very mellow pup. He likes to play but isn’t hyper. Buckle is house trained, crate trained and leash trained. Buckle has been with children as young as 6 and is gentle. We would love to see Buckle find a home with another dog buddy to join him on walks and adventures. He was raised with other puppies and adult dogs at his foster home, and he finds so much enjoyment and confidence when around other dogs. He has a gentle play style. Buckle is a country dog at heart, and he would do best in a quiet suburban or country setting with either a big yard or an adopter willing to take him on walks in low-traffic areas. Urban noises such as trucks backing up and dumpsters landing with a crash on the ground on trash day can startle him. He is getting better every day, but he needs an adopter who is willing to help socialize him to the environment he lives in. Buckle is 6 months old and weighs 30 pounds. We think he’s a Hound mix. His mother weighs 35 pounds, so he’ll likely be a medium sized adult. Buckle is neutered, vaccinated for rabies, DHPP and Bordetella. He is also microchipped, heartworm negative and is current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Buckle is fostered in Happy Valley, Oregon.
