About Church
One look into Church's eyes and it's clear he's survived more than most cats ever will. Born in a trailer park surrounded by sick cats, he arrived at the rescue severely underweight, covered in lice, and facing dental issues. Then Church fought through FIP and came out the other side stronger. These days, he seeks out peace and quiet, hoping for the safety of a steady home. He’s shy but never aggressive, needing a patient adopter willing to give him space and time to come out of his shell. Soft food treats and chin scratches work wonders. He chirps a little greeting when he’s feeling brave. Three things make life better for Church: a tunnel to retreat and play in, a tall scratcher for stretches, and, most important, another playful cat. He bonds with other cats, especially ones who like to chase and wrestle. Church is about three years old and neutered, dewormed, flea-treated, microchipped, and vaccinated. He is FIV positive and was treated for FIP; while recurrence is rare, potential adopters should familiarize themselves with the disease and watch for any symptoms. Church tested negative for FeLV but comes from a high-risk area — future adopters might consider retesting and FeLV vaccination for resident cats, just to be cautious. This gentle soul has earned his soft landing. Click apply to start the adoption process.

Questions about Church
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Church, as a Domestic Short Hair, adapts well to most homes but especially benefits from a calm, quiet environment given his shy nature. Apartment living or peaceful houses are both suitable if they offer him space to retreat and feel safe.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Church is very comfortable living exclusively indoors, especially given his immunocompromised status. Domestic Short Hairs like him do well without access to outdoor space if they have enriching activities inside.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Domestic Short Hairs often do well with children, but Church is especially shy. He would be best in a home with gentle, respectful kids or adults who understand he needs time to warm up.
