Crickette is the kind of dog who manages to be both your shadow and your in-house comedian. She’s a 2-year-old, medium-sized Husky/German Shepherd mix in Kiowa, OK, who has an opinion about everything. Crickette’s mind runs like a hamster on a triple espresso—always curious, always watching, always finding mischief or just the next new thing to investigate. Her brain checks out from time to time, but her heart is unwaveringly loyal. Bonding comes easy for Crickette. She latches onto her people with an intensity that’s more endearing than clingy, always finds her way to your side, and thrives on attention and affection. Don’t expect solo bathroom breaks anymore. She’s playful, cuddly, and eager to make you smile with her oddball antics. Crickette gets along with most medium and large dogs, really blossoms with canine friends her size, but small dogs and cats are right out—she can’t ignore the chase instinct. She’s been great with teens, and her foster thinks she’d do well with children 8 and up who understand how to behave around boisterous dogs. Her energy level falls comfortably in the middle—she needs a good dose of activity and mental stimulation, but she’s not out to run marathons. Given her smarts, she picks up commands quickly (she has sit, up, and down already, plus a basic handshake) and would enjoy further training or learning goofy tricks. Potty trained, crate-savvy for shorter stretches, and generally obedient, she makes a low-drama housemate. Her bark is reserved and she isn’t destructive when left alone for reasonable periods, but she does best with a securely fenced yard or regular walks to satisfy her busy mind.
