About Shafer

Shafer is a striking mix of Basset Hound and Labradoodle—a doodle face with a low Basset body and a shiny black, curly coat. He comes across as shy in new settings or with unfamiliar people, but he’s quick to trust if you move slow and speak softly. Once he’s comfortable, his warm and goofy side comes out. He’ll thrive with a physically fenced yard and will do best with someone familiar with his breeds. Though he hasn’t met cats, Shafer may get along with dogs after a proper introduction. He should be placed with kids 10 and up and might need a little extra time to settle into a brand-new space. Patience and kindness go a long way with him. Given time to decompress, Shafer promises to settle in as a loyal, sweet companion. Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin!
