About Gees

Meet Gees (rhymes with bees), a striking tortoiseshell domestic shorthair with a rare case of heterochromia—her eyes are two different colors. That’s a standout feature even in cats that aren’t white, but Gees’ charm runs deeper. She’s got a bold, opinionated personality, and while she’s never mean, she knows how to communicate what she wants. Her little meow gets louder if you’re slow to offer treats, or if she’s picked up in a way she doesn’t approve of—she prefers dignified transportation. Food is a major motivator for Gees, and she’ll win you over for a piece of churro or wet food. She’s grown into a sturdy lapcat who loves attention. Through a short illness and vet visits, she remained loving and quick to purr, even in unfamiliar situations. Gees is mellow at home and makes an excellent couch companion and cuddle buddy. Gees hasn’t had it easy. She joined the rescue after taking some rough hits from other cats in her colony, which left her with injuries needing vet care. As a result, Gees is FIV+, likely contracted from those fights. FIV+ cats can thrive as indoor pets but should avoid living with FIV- cats, and Gees is happiest as the only cat. She might do fine with older, gentle children but hasn’t met dogs as of yet. Gees is around 7 years old, spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $80 with an approved application.
