About Riggins

Riggins is a 6-year-old Blue Heeler mix with a goofy streak and a lot of heart. At about 40 pounds, he’s the classic energetic, playful Heeler who thrives on outdoor adventure and loves to run. He talks, he mouths when he plays, and he’s always in the mood to hang outside. Riggins is neutered, microchipped, and his vaccines are up to date, so he’s fully set for his next step. He’s done well around ducks and showed genuine affection for the one child he got to know—he latched onto that little boy like he’d found a best friend. As he’s grown older, Riggins has become more anxious, mostly in busy homes or around packs of high-energy dogs. He currently lives with several dogs and some puppies and can get overstimulated, which shows up as barking, growling, or snapping, though he hasn’t hurt another animal. Because of this, he needs a chilled-out home—no other dogs, or just one or two older, low-key companions. He’s looking for someone with experience handling herding breeds, someone who can be patient and set boundaries. Riggins has worked with trainers and taken daily medication for anxiety; the problem isn’t a lack of effort, just that the current environment doesn’t suit him. He’s house trained, crate trained, and holds his own on a leash (though he’ll pull if he’s excited). Riggins is deeply loyal, affectionate, and wants to bond closely with his person. His ideal setup is a place with room to burn energy—land or a large yard—and a calm, structured home where he can settle in. The decision to rehome him wasn’t easy; it’s purely out of love for what’s best for him. He’s a sweet, energetic dog who, with the right match, will shine as a devoted companion. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
