Sprinkles (ACCT-A-245023) is a 3-year-old tan mixed breed who was found around Unruh and Bingham Street and brought to the shelter by a community member who hoped to help her find a safe home. Since arriving, staff have learned that she may have previously been known as "Coco," and that she once lived in a home with children where she formed a close bond with them. At the shelter, Sprinkles has shown herself to be a gentle and sensitive dog who warms up with a calm, patient approach. She may be a little nervous at first, but once she feels comfortable she becomes affectionate and seeks out attention. Volunteers describe her as sweet, composed, and easy to handle on leash. She enjoys treats, walks politely, and has even been noted to have an elegant prance when she moves. Sprinkles has been friendly and respectful when encountering other dogs, though slow introductions and appropriate matches will help her feel most comfortable. With kindness and a little time to settle in, Sprinkles shows all the signs of being a loving and loyal companion. She hopped right into the car without hesitation and rode calmly both to and from the location. While there, Sprinkles remained relaxed and comfortable. She gently enjoyed her pup cup and took a few french fries very politely. She also sought out affection, leaning in for hugs before we left. I had previously been told that Sprinkles can be very shy, but that was not observed during this outing. She appeared comfortable, social, and clearly enjoys being around people. I love this sweet girl and will be cheering for her successful placement. Playgroup 3/14: Mildly steerable with water (2/5) and shake can (3/5). During gate greetings, initially stiff with mid-high tail wags, but after getting a collar and spending some time with her handler in the side yard, gate greetings relaxed and she showed some low tail wags. Easy entry into yard - tolerated the other dogs rushing to greet. Low tail wags during appropriate greetings with Giuseppe, Retro, and Blakey. After greets from Retro, butt-tucked skedaddled around for a bit. Timidly accepted other greetings and stayed generally timid throughout time in the yard. 03/13/2026 per staff behavioral eval: Kennel Presentation: at the front of the kennel, ears back and tail low and still. Open the door and she backed up with slight whale eye, offered treats which she ate readily and put the treats in the leash loop to get the loop over her head. Leash Skills: loose leash Sociability: Ignored me at first, getting down on her level, seem to be the key to getting her to warm up and loosen up with soft, squinty eyes, avoiding eye contact, lip lick back and tail low wagging just at the end. Gently jumped on me and solicited pets on her chest when I stopped. Did a big stretch with her front paws on me before she got down Play: did not do Dog Interaction: Met alibi: tail low, averted gaze, 'tense when being sniffed, otherwise coexisted well or was avoidant. Piloerection noted and did a shake off after the initial meet. Return to Kennel: easy Color Level: gold Per volunteer 3/13: Sprinkles won over the hearts of everyone she met with those stunning eyes and her gracious demeanor. She is very sweet and easy on the leash. She shows patience and composure and responds well to a gentle approach. Meeting other dogs at the fence really helped her open up and she was friendly and respectful towards every dog that she encountered. Sprinkles loved treats and was very affectionate. She has an elegant prance that suites her beauty and intelligence. Sprinkles also seems to be potty trained! 03/13/2026 per owner: Hi I am the original owner of "sprinkles" I rehomed her back in September because I moved out of state and had a newborn and was unfortunately unable to keep her. She's a year and a half, her birthday is July 1st 2024. Her name is coco. She's amazing with kids all ages and good with bigger dogs but does not like little dogs and will bite. She has never bitten a person and she is very friendly. I did find her tied to the train tracks when she was a puppy and she has a little bit of trauma from that but overall she's an amazing dog. If the person she was rehomed to does not come and reclaim her she needs to be in a home that's active and has a back yard. She also needs to be on a strict potty schedule. She's also allergic to chicken. And she would prefer a home that's has kids in it. I have a 3 year old and they were best friends.
