About Ty

Ty has been through a lot in the past few months, but he is finally ready to go home! He came to us when his family circumstances had changed and he needed a quieter household. He had a limp when he arrived, and we discovered he had a torn CCL. He had surgery to repair that a few weeks ago, and after laser treatments and an excellent foster home, he is doing great! (Thanks to everyone donated to help Ty out!) As if recovering from surgery wasn't enough, last week Ty's foster noticed his face looked strange and he was having difficulty swallowing. It turns out he had trigeminal neuritis (aka dropped jaw), where the nerve that controls the jaw muscles was inflamed. Thankfully, he is showing a lot of improvement in the last week. Ty is looking for a quiet home that he can call his own. Due to the pain in his back legs, he is sensitive to being touched there. Because of this, he should not go to a home with small children. Ty cannot live with cats! He likes calm dogs but would likely prefer to be the only pet. And, of course, he is great with humans! On the whole, Ty has been a champ throughout everything and really loves being with his people. This handsome guy is also a world-class snuggler with a coat like silk! It's time for Ty to go home! We do NOT respond to PetFinder inquires; we only respond to emails sent to adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org regarding adoption inquires. We never know how quickly a pet will be adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in a pet but want to see them during our shelter open hours prior to filling out an application, we strongly recommend that you email us at adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org before visiting the shelter to ensure they are still there. Open hours are Wednesdays 1:30-6pm, and Saturdays and Sundays 10am-2pm for you to come view our adoptable pets. You can apply for animal at the shelter during our open hours or online by emailing adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org and asking for an application. Adoption fees allow our non-profit to continue to help pets in need. Meet and greets with animals are scheduled after applications have been processed and we’ve determined you are the best fit. We do not operate on a first come, first served basis.
