About Teddy D

*This animal is a part of our "Seniors for Seniors" program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* ---- Teddy is basically a retired grandpa who somehow turned "being emotionally attached" into a full-time career. This pup does not believe in personal space. If you sit down, he's in your lap. If you lay down, he's on your shoulder like a tiny emotional support scarf. If you stop petting him for even three seconds, he will place both paws on you and stare deep into your soul with his giant sad eyes like you just canceled Christmas. His daily schedule is incredibly demanding: nap, cuddle, snack, sunbathe, repeat. Teddy acts like he's worked a 14-hour shift at the factory when really he just trotted adorably from the couch to the bed. And yes - the trot is ridiculous. It's giving "tiny horse with a mortgage." He loves absolutely everyone after a quick sniff inspection. New people? Fine. Cats? Invisible. Big dogs? Mildly concerning, but survivable if they mind their business. Try to steal his food, though, and suddenly this sweet little potato remembers he has boundaries. Humans touching his bowl? Totally fine. Another dog trying it? Teddy says, "Respectfully, absolutely not," with one dramatic little air snap. Teddy would also like it known that loud noises and sudden movements are deeply offensive to him personally. Vacuums, slamming doors, chaos? Hard pass. He would much rather spend his retirement being hand-fed soft treats while soaking in sunbeams like the tiny distinguished prince he believes he is. He's mostly house trained as long as you keep him on a routine, though every now and then he blesses you with a surprise poop just to keep you humble. Truly, Teddy is the perfect companion for someone home a lot - mostly because he firmly believes your entire purpose in life is to be available for cuddles at all times. Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car - it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and recommendations to keep your Senior dog in top shape.
