Mariska spent the early years of her life surviving outdoors and raising litters in Sioux Falls, SD. Only recently has she begun learning how to be an indoor dog in Buffalo, MN. After finally being rescued—her puppies were safe first, then her—she’s taking those first steps into what it means to truly be cared for. Skittish at first with both people and dogs, Mariska needs slow introductions and a patient approach. Sudden movements still startle her, but with gentle persistence, she starts to reveal her soft, loving side. She’s making real progress—she’s discovered the joy of toys and bones, and is even trying to play with other dogs in her foster home. Separation anxiety is her main hurdle; Mariska will bark or pull things into her kennel for comfort when left alone, so she’ll need someone committed to helping her feel secure and confident. She’s house trained, spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. Once she feels a bond, Mariska sticks by your side, eager for face scratches, treats, and especially nighttime cuddles. Her loyalty and affection make her a wonderful candidate for someone looking for a close canine companion.
