🦗🪴 MEET MANTIS 🪴🦗 Part praying mantis. Part snack surveillance specialist. Part tiny gentleman in a puppy suit. Location: Skiatook, OK Adoption App: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app Mantis may not actually rotate his head 180 degrees like the bug version, but he will hear a cheese wrapper from three rooms away and appear beside you like a fluffy little cryptid summoned by carbohydrates. Scientists are still studying how someone so tiny can detect the opening of a snack bag with military-grade precision. Mantis is sweet, gentle, and has mastered the art of patiently waiting for attention like a Victorian orphan in a movie. But the SECOND you acknowledge him? Immediate full-body wiggles. Tail wagging. Tiny happy dance. Emotional support noodle mode activated. Sweet, gentle, food-motivated, and powered almost entirely by snacks and love — Mantis is ready to wiggle his way directly into someone’s heart (and probably their kitchen). Mantis is a 6-week-old, 4lb certified Huskyshepherdaussiecattlecollie mix. (Translation: absolutely nobody knows, genetics were clearly doing freestyle jazz, and honestly? We support the creativity.) Potential breeds include: Husky, German Shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog, Border Collie, and possibly “whatever handsome little woodland creature wandered by that day”. Mantis and his siblings started life in a way that sounds made up, but unfortunately is very real. Mama Crickette decided the safest place to have her puppies was inside someone’s sofa cushions like the world’s fluffiest hidden compartment. Once they were discovered, the family was brought to the shelter, and from there they officially joined our fluffy butt family. 🖤 Mama is believed to be a German Shepherd/Husky mix and currently weighs around 49lbs. Since Dad apparently took the “traveling salesman who disappears before the credits roll” route, we can only make educated guesses on the rest of the DNA soup. Based on Mama’s size and the fact that Dad likely wasn’t huge either, we think Mantis may end up somewhere around 50–60lbs fully grown. BUT. This is rescue math. Which means he could end up smaller. He could end up bigger. He could wake up tomorrow and decide he identifies as a moose. We do not make the rules here. What we do know is this: Mantis probably isn’t going to be one of those “I accidentally adopted a polar bear disguised as a puppy” situations. So if you’ve always loved rescue dogs but hesitated because you weren’t quite emotionally, physically, or financially prepared for 120 pounds of Pyr hair silently judging you from the kitchen… congratulations. This may be your moment. Mantis currently believes every living creature exists for one of two reasons: 1. To play with him 2. To potentially provide snacks. So far, this system is working out beautifully for him. Mantis absolutely loves other dogs and spends most of his day wrestling with his littermates like a tiny caffeinated woodland goblin. He also adores the foster family’s Pomeranian, Tallulah. Mantis is playful, sweet, and very respectful with other dogs, especially for a puppy whose legs are still approximately the size of mozzarella sticks. Mantis has not officially met any cats yet because he is still very small and currently built like a warm potato with opinions. At this age, proper introductions and continued socialization will be important, but given his gentle and social personality, we suspect he’ll likely approach cats the same way he approaches everything else: “Hello. Would you like to be my friend? Also do you have snacks?” Mantis LOVES kids and thrives on attention from basically any human willing to acknowledge his existence. He is affectionate, gentle, and happily accepts cuddles like it’s his full-time career. Honestly, if children are nearby, Mantis is probably already trying to politely wiggle his way into their lap for emotional support purposes. Right now, Mantis is sitting at about a 3/10 on the energy scale, which is pretty standard for a professional baby puppy. He enjoys little bursts of playtime, exploring important things like leaves and shoelaces, and following his siblings around like a fuzzy intern on his first day of work… but much of his day is still dedicated to the very serious business of napping dramatically in random locations. Personality-wise, Mantis is basically a polite little gentleman wrapped in fluff and powered entirely by snacks. This child LOVES food. Deeply. Passionately. Spiritually. If there is even the slightest possibility that someone may be preparing a meal, Mantis will quietly appear nearby like a Victorian ghost summoned by the sound of a cheese wrapper. Mantis may currently be small enough to fit in your hoodie pocket and emotionally manipulate you with one single head tilt, but please remember: he is still a BABY baby. Like “doesn’t pay taxes, doesn’t know what a leash is, thinks paper towels are enrichment activities” levels of baby. Puppies are basically tiny freeloading interns. They arrive with enthusiasm, emotional support wiggles, and absolutely no understanding of how the human world works. It’s up to their family to help shape them into confident, well-socialized adult dogs. Mantis especially will benefit from continued positive socialization while he’s young so he can grow into a happy, confident companion. New sights, sounds, people, dogs, experiences, and training will all help his little baby brain develop appropriately. And yes… your home will need to be puppy-proofed. The good news? Mantis is extremely food motivated, which is basically the puppy training jackpot. Tiny dude would probably consider selling state secrets for a chicken treat. That eagerness for snacks can make training both fun and rewarding when paired with consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement. 🦗💚 So here’s the deal about Mantis… 💚🦗 Yes, he’s adorable. Obviously. Yes, he looks like the world’s tiniest woodland sidekick. Yes, his little face could probably convince you to make poor financial decisions at Target. But beyond all the fluff and tiny wiggles, Mantis is genuinely just a really lovely puppy. He’s sweet, gentle, affectionate, social, and has that soft little personality that makes people completely fall apart emotionally after spending approximately four minutes with him. He’s the kind of puppy who quietly sneaks into your heart while politely waiting for snacks and cuddles. Now, before you start emotionally committing to him from your couch while whispering “that’s my son” to your phone screen, here’s the important part: If you’d like to adopt Mantis, you MUST fill out an adoption application first so we can send it over to his foster family for review. You cannot simply manifest ownership through vibes alone. We checked. 📝 Adoption App: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app And yes — you will need to pick him up in Skiatook, OK. Mantis currently does not offer Uber Eats delivery, same-day Prime shipping, teleportation services, or emotional support carrier pigeons. Please plan accordingly.
