Ofelia ACCT-A-249458 is a 4-year-old female that came in as a stray due to abandonment on 5/4. Ofelia was unfortunately dumped at the shelter, and she has been extremely fearful since she has arrived. However, she has shown signs that she would be willing to open up with a slow approach! This girl just needs some time to decompress & feel comfortable showing her true personality! BEHAVIORAL: Per staff on 5/6: "Slow entry into the yard. Avoidant of the other dogs. Stayed close to handler" Per staff on 5/6: "Kennel Presentation: Laying down at the back of her side bank, ears back, wider eyes. Came forward for a treat and took it gently through the bars with soft eyes, ears back. Leash Skills: Moved to the back of the kennel when I opened the door, wider eyes ears back, tucked tail. Leashed with a treat lure. Once leashed she came out slowly and pulled moderately on leash, eyes darting, ears pinned back, tucked tail, head low. Sociability: Exit searching in the yard, ears back, tucked tail. Would come over when I called to her, wide soft eyes, ears back, low tail wags. When handling she would lean into me when petting with ears back, wider eyes, lip licks. Moving to her lower back she head whipped with a closed mouth, wide eyes and ears back. I stopped and she then licked my hand with wide soft eyes. Moved away when I stopped petting her and returned to exit searching. She is food motivated and knows sit. Play: Squeaked a squeaky toy and she backed up from it wide eyes, tucked tail, ears pinned back. Dog Interaction: n/a Return to Kennel: Walked back pulling moderately, head low, tail high, ears back. Hopped right into kennel and the leash was removed easily." Per staff on 5/5: "Steer test: 4/5 with water. High tail, ears forwards at fence greeting. Slow entry into the yard, avoidant.
