About Goldy
Goldy was surrendered when her previous owner could no longer keep her. Underneath her initial shyness, she has a sweet temperament and plenty of potential to open up in a patient, loving home. In the shelter, Goldy is often nervous and fearful, but take her outside for a walk and she lights up—sniffing, exploring, and showing off her goofy, playful side. She’s happiest with praise and treats, especially chicken or whipped cream, and she’ll quickly eat kibble from your hand once trust is built. A true outdoors-lover, Goldy adores exploring grass, hiking, and watching wildlife. She walks well on a slack leash, stays close for guidance, and rarely pulls—though squirrels and rabbits can tempt her to bolt, so a firm grip is smart. Shelter life startles her, especially with loud noises or sudden movements, and she’s not keen on harnesses, but she warms considerably with a calm routine. Goldy appears fully house trained, is quick to learn new things (toys, puzzle feeders, basic cues), and gets along with other dogs both on walks and at home. She is a fast runner in a backyard, but equally happy to loaf on a soft bed. Once comfortable, she’ll ask for gentle pats and seek out some quiet affection. Praises, food rewards, and consistency bring out her best self. Highly curious and attentive, she’s ready to become an enthusiastic companion in an understanding, stable home.
