Walker
AvailableWalker is a Basset Hound mix living in St. Louis, MO. As an adult, medium-sized, neutered male, he brings a social and friendly energy to the home. He’s house trained and up to date on vaccinations, eager for a family who’s ready to welcome a playful companion.
About Walker
Walker is midway through a 12-week Puppies 4 Parole training program and will be ready for adoption around August 15th. He has a big, happy-go-lucky personality and plenty of Basset Hound charm, even without the classic long ears. Social and outgoing, Walker greets everyone enthusiastically and does well with other dogs. He thrives around people and loves to be where the action is, whether that means romping in the yard, wrestling with playful dog buddies, or relaxing alongside his people after a busy day. Walker is housebroken, knows how to “sit,” and settles quietly in his crate. He’s playful, energetic, and needs a home committed to regular activity—a fenced yard is ideal so he can play and safely explore. Because his excitement can lead to some jumpy greetings, he would do best without small children. He benefits from ongoing training to continue building on the skills he's learning in his program and would match well with a household willing to keep him engaged both physically and mentally. If you have another active dog, he’s happy to share in the fun. Walker is ready to pour out affection on a family who will involve him in their lives. If you’re seeking a friendly, active companion, he may be the one. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?

How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Basset Hounds like Walker do well with regular access to outdoor space, such as a securely fenced yard, where they can exercise their noses and their legs. While long daily walks aren't always required, opportunities for daily exploration and play keep them happiest.
