About Ham

Hello my name is Ham I’m a 6 year old male My journey to Hazel’s house started in December 2025 when some kind people found me lying by the side of the road after being hit by a car. I’m very thankful they didn’t leave me there scared, cold, and in pain. They picked me up and rushed me to the ER. I was diagnosed with multiple punctured pelvic fractures. By some miracle surgery wasn’t required. Just strict rest and time. During the next month these wonderful people cared for me, searched for my owner, and was doing everything possible to help me heal. For that I’m very grateful. However, at no fault of these people I required some additional procedures at the vet due to my injury. They made a hard unselfish decision and reached out to Hazel’s house for help. Hazel’s house got me into guardian vet care so I could be evaluated and cared for. I was there for approximately 6 days. The wonderful vets were able to help me. Then I was sent to my foster home for care and recovery. I was scared and not feeling well but I was met by my fosters cat named Oliver (also Hazel house alumni). He took me under his wing and let me know I was going to be ok. He is very kind and we became fast friends. During my time in foster care I’ve overcome a lot and now the time has come for me to find my forever home. My fosters house is very quiet and peaceful which is exactly what I needed to recover. Now I’m looking for a little more action. I’m good with other cats. I’m not sure about dogs as my foster only has cats. My hips and lower back are sensitive so maybe a house with older children. I do tend to get underfoot as I want to be near my people. I can be goofy at times. I can sleep in weird positions. I like to lay next to you, sit on your lap, and sleep next to you. There are times when you pet me I will take my paws and try to grab at your hand. My foster mom is working with me on this issue. When I get handsy she will tell me “no” and then says the word “gentle” and hold out her hand. I will then put my paw on her hand. This is still a work in progress. I know my name and will come to you when called. I love feeding time. I can move fast when it’s time to eat. Please note I’m allergic to any food with “duck” in it. Other than that I eat dry and wet food. I like my daily churu. I use a low sided litter box as it’s easy for me to get in and out of. I can jump up on couches, chairs, and beds (nothing higher). I’ve had all my teeth removed so there will be no dental bills. I also have one unique “cauliflower” ear. All in all I’m just a cat who’s been through a lot and determined to have a good life. I’m looking for my forever home that has a little action and a lot of love. I’m forever grateful to Hazel’s house for giving me a chance and to all the others who make this journey possible. Adoption fee is $50. He is fixed, chipped, dewormed, flea treated, started on vaccines and had a wellness exam.
