About Nesta
Nesta is a 3-year-old labrador retriever/catahoula leopard dog mix currently fostered in Spring, TX. She came into rescue with her whole family after life under an abandoned house, and she’s made impressive strides since. Nesta is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed—ready for a caring forever home. Medium-sized with chocolate and cream coloring, she thrives with other dogs and absolutely needs a playful, confident canine companion. She’s slow to warm up to new animals and people, preferring gradual, gentle introductions and a consistent routine. While shy and prone to startle at loud noises, Nesta bonds tightly once trust is earned and softens into an affectionate, easy companion. Nesta is house trained and crate trained, reliable when left alone for short stretches. She does best with patient, experienced adopters who understand sensitive dogs. A home with older, respectful children and no cats is needed. Outside, she prefers a backyard for play over long leashed walks, as she finds the world a bit overwhelming at times. Nesta knows some basic cues, reads her environment sensitively, and will greet visitors after taking in the scene from her crate first. Her foster describes her as equal parts shy woodland creature and steadfast friend—she’ll choose you, given time. If you have patience, structure, and another friendly dog, Nesta could be the one to blossom in your care. What are you waiting for? Apply today!

Questions about Nesta
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Nesta, as a labrador retriever/catahoula leopard dog mix, does best in a home that offers a secure environment, stability, and a supportive canine companion. A quiet setting with a backyard suits her, especially given her sensitivity and moderate energy.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Most labrador/catahoula mixes like Nesta appreciate a fenced backyard where they can play and relax. While they enjoy some outdoor time, they don’t require vast acreage, just a safe space to burn energy and decompress.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Nesta’s breed mix can be great with older, respectful children who understand boundaries. She'd be best in a home with teens or adults, as her timid nature isn't well-suited for very young or rowdy kids.
