About Jack
Jack wandered onto the scene in Grifton, NC in late 2025 and immediately made himself known. He meshed easily with the other resident cat and showed no hesitation about making himself at home, at least on the porch. Even after being trapped and neutered, Jack stuck around; he clearly decided this was his spot. When the other cat got adopted, Jack still returned each morning, hoping the door might finally open for him. It's clear Jack wants to belong. He greets his people every day and comes forward for pets and brushing. He’s calm when getting topical meds applied, showing surprising patience for a formerly outdoor-only cat. Jack is big and has a classic orange tabby look with a short coat. He’s a friendly, people-oriented cat once he trusts you, but he will need a cat-savvy adopter willing to let him adjust at his own pace. Jack hasn’t lived with children and wouldn’t be happy with little kids in the mix, and he does not get along with other cats. He’s not house trained yet, so the transition indoors will take some patience and understanding. As of now, Jack is neutered, has his rabies shot, and tested negative on his combo test. He isn’t microchipped or fully vaccinated yet, but Wild Serenity Cat Rescue Fund will cover his vaccines. Jack is waiting for the right person to help him settle in for good. Ready to fall in love? Questions about Jack
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Jack, as a Domestic Short Hair, is adaptable and can do well in a quiet indoor home, especially with an adopter familiar with cat behavior. He’ll thrive best as an only cat in a stable environment.

Domestic Short Hairs like Jack do not require outdoor space if given enrichment and attention indoors. Jack is ready to transition fully inside and would benefit from window views or a sunny perch.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
While many Domestic Short Hairs are fine with kids, Jack specifically is not suited for homes with small children due to his background and adjustment needs.
